J. Chad Self, Esq.
J. Chad Self began working with Hunter Law Group in February 2018, handling divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, child relocation, timesharing, paternity, and termination of parental rights. Before joining Hunter Law Group, Chad practiced for several years at another family law firm in Tampa, Florida. Chad has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2011.
Chad earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Auburn Hills, Michigan. During law school, Chad provided pro bono service as a guardian ad litem, protecting the interests of children or incapacitated persons who could not protect themselves. As a law student, Chad also participated in Cooley’s Estate Planning Clinic, preparing estate planning documents for individuals who could not afford legal representation.
Prior to attending law school, Chad served in the United States Navy. Chad enjoys using the life lessons he learned in the Navy to guide clients through difficult circumstances. Coming from a divorced family, Chad relates to the impact the legal process has on clients and their children.
Born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, Chad earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee. In 2010, Chad moved to Florida and now lives in Riverview with his dog, Houston.
