Fred graduated from Alfred University in New York in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After college he used his USCG OUPV 100 ton/100 mile Operator License to run a YMCA “Outward Bound” style cruising program in the Atlantic Ocean off of North Carolina. At California Western School of Law in San Diego, Fred pursued concentrations in Environmental Law and Telecommunications Law while working as a Rescue Diver for a local SCUBA company and as a law clerk for a mining corporation where he also earned his MSHA Underground Hard Rock Miner License. Fred received his Juris Doctor in 1997 along with the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Entertainment Law.
After law school, Fred worked as a Graduate Law Clerk for the San Diego District Attorney’s Office in the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement, where he dealt exclusively with Title IV-D Paternity and Child Support Actions. He received recognition for his work with URESA/UIFSA actions and paternity cases.
Fred returned home to the Tampa Bay area in 1998 to work with Title IV-D Paternity and Child Support Actions while clerking for the firm of Mensh & MacIntosh, P.A. After being admitted to the Florida Bar in October, 1998, Fred became an Associate with the firm and acted as a legal service provider for the State of Florida Department of Revenue, prosecuting thousands of cases on behalf of the interests of minor children and custodial parents in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, and Highlands Counties.
Fred was admitted to Federal Court in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida in 1999, and in July, 2000, Fred opened his own firm to represent Marital and Family Law clients throughout the Tampa Bay area. Fred was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in February, 2001 and served on the Admiralty Law Committee of The Florida Bar in 2001-2003. Fred was appointed to serve as an Animal Control Services Hearing Officer in Polk County for 2004-2006 and served on the Florida Bar Animal Law Committee from 2005-2006.
In 2007 Fred was appointed to serve as a Family Law General Magistrate and Child Support Hearing Officer for the Sixth Circuit in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, where he served until budget cuts reduced the position in 2008. Since May, 2007 Fred has served on the Florida Bar Family Law Rules Committee helping to craft the rules and forms used throughout Family Law courts.
In 2011, Fred joined Hunter Law, P.A. and became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator to better assist families in crafting their own solutions to Family law disagreements to “take the fight out of the fight.”
In 2012, Fred became a Qualified Parenting Coordinator, accepting appointments in contested Family Law cases to assist parents in developing and implementing parenting plans to reduce judicial involvement.
Fred is the current Chair of the Income Withholding Order subcommittee of the Family Law Rules Committee, an active member of the Association for Interdisciplinary Family Law Professionals in the 6th Circuit, and the Parenting Coordinator’s Workgroup. With more than fifteen years of experience as a licensed attorney in Florida, Fred’s practice concentrates on Marital and Family Law issues to help families resolve their issues without court intervention whenever possible and litigate disputes for resolution when necessary.
